Team Fortress 2: Reload Rooms, Map Elements and Pickups

In Team Fortress 2, players start each round in their team’s resupply room, where they can change their class and loadout. These rooms are equipped with cabinets that fully restore health, restock weapon ammo, refill item meters, and remove negative status effects. If a player dies, they will wait to respawn in a respawn wave, which typically lasts 10 to 5 seconds, and then reappear at their team’s farthest forward resupply room. Resupply rooms can be earned through capturing control points or reaching Payload cart checkpoints, but can also be lost if the opposing team makes similar progress.

The maps in the game have a variety of elements, including doors, which are either open or shut and most can be opened by a player standing near them. However, some doors will only open for players coming from a specific side or for players on a specific team. Maps are also divided by invisible boundaries and surfaces, with player ceilings and walls, even though they may be invisible, and objects that appear to take up physical space but are ignored for collision detection.

Map pickups such as health and ammo kits can be found in various locations. These pickups will remain in place until they are picked up, and will respawn after a 10-second delay. Health kits restore 20.5%, 50%, or 100% health based on size, while ammo pickups restore 20.5%, 50%, or 100% ammo and a set amount of metal. When a player dies, they will drop their active weapon, which can be picked up by another player with the right class, as well as a medium ammo box. A Heavy who dies with a food item like the Sandvich will drop that instead.

If players are in need of health or ammo, they can find an Engineer’s Dispenser to get some, or go back to their resupply room. These elements are placed in areas where many players may go if they need to refill their supplies.
